Rockid is a rocking chair and cradle in one. While softly swinging the rocking chair and reading a book or singing a lullaby, the baby falls asleep. When the baby outgrows the cradle, it is possible to reconstruct the rockid into a rocking chair.

Defined by Grace: Dancing Chair by Constance Guisset

07 Nov 2011

Dancing Chair is an elegant design project belonging to artist Constance Guisset. With an appearance that is eye-catching and original, the Dancing Chair is bold, to say the least. The base of the chair is constructed of bent, undulating pieces of wood. This gives it an almost ethereal look, very pleasant to observe. Constance went for a shell-like upholstered seating unit, that ensures a high degree of comfort. The product was also interpreted as a modern approach of the traditional rocking chair.

long - form - library

14 Jun 2011

This is a remarkable piece of furniture. The concept was to design an environment in which to read and contemplate. Just as crucial was the notion that the piece be incredibly modern in its aesthetic. Ron Arad, a designer you may be familiar with, often incorporates movement in his work. The library takes inspiration from this. Rather like the hull of a boat, the underside is curved, allowing steady gentle rocking, controlled by the occupant, as you would on a tree swing or an old rocking chair. It can hold up to 400 books of varying shapes and sizes, and/or several hundred CD's, DVD's, or indeed nothing at all, it is entirely up to you.
