The Canadian Home Furnishings Alliance has announced that this year's Toronto Summer Furniture Show will be held Aug. 6-9, closing with the annual CHFA Golf Classic on the afternoon of Aug. 9.

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — The Canadian Home Furnishings Alliance has announced that this year's Toronto Summer Furniture Show will be held Aug. 6-9, closing with the annual CHFA Golf Classic on the afternoon of Aug. 9.

TSFS exhibitors include the permanent showrooms in and around the International Centre here. Some 30 showrooms took part in last year's show, which is the industry's only mid-year event for Canadian furniture retailers.

"This is an excellent opportunity for independent retailers to review new product in advance of the all-important fall selling season," CHFA Chairman Laine Reynolds said.

As usual, TSFS will overlap the fall edition of the Canadian Gift & Tableware Association's semiannual trade event, which will run Aug. 7-10 at the International Centre and the nearby Congress Centre.

"Many TSFS participants are smaller manufacturers and importers/distributors who do not show at High Point or Las Vegas," Reynolds said, adding, "They can show new product now without waiting until The Canadian Home Furnishings Market in January."

For the second consecutive year, the CHFA Golf Classic will be held at the Caledon Woods Golf Club in Bolton, Ontario, about a 20-minute drive from the International Centre.

"Holding the golf tournament during the summer show provides an outstanding networking opportunity for suppliers and retailers alike," said Reynolds, who is also vice president of sales for upholstery specialist Superstyle Furniture.

Toronto-area showrooms interested in participating in this year's TSFS or industry members interested in signing up for the golf tournament should contact CHFA President Murray Vaughan at (905) 677-6561 or by e-mail at murray@chfaweb.ca.
