The group met at the Aria Hotel at CityCenter the Sunday before the Las Vegas Market and heard presentations on topics ranging from The Global Luxury Market to Targeting the Affluent One by One to the confluence of e-commerce and everyday commerce.

Among the retailers attending were Toms-Price Home Furnishings, Beverly Hall Interiors, Classic Galleries, Gorman's, H.W. Home, Kittle's, Lawrance Contemporary Home Furnishings, Masin's Furniture and Interiors, Robb & Stucky and Sheffield Furniture and Interiors.

The event was followed by a reception and dinner at the Las Vegas home of WMC President and CEO Bob Maricich and wife Ande.

Howard Haimsohn, president of San Diego's Lawrance Contemporary, called the program "fabulous," and said it was nice to have the opportunity to network and share experiences with sharp retailers of upscale furniture from all over.

He praised WMC for pulling it together and added, "I'd love to see our industry find ways to do more of it."

1968 Vespa Scooter Turned Into Functional Work Station

The donor for my furniture project was a 1968 Vespa sprint that was beyond restoration, making it the perfect candidate. I feel that this was a more honorable fate than the scrap metal yard. I have tried to retain the traditional characteristics of the classic icon by converting the back half into a functional work station, complete with adjustable laptop stand. My aim was to deliver the feeling of riding a Vespa without the helmet hair. Anyone want to take it for a spin?”
