Speical luncheon presentation also planned for 2nd Wednesday event

High Point, N.C. --  The High Point Design Center, an organization of to-the-trade showrooms that are open year-round, is hosting a "Beach Blast" during its Second Wednesday event June 9, 2010, from 4-6 p.m. at 200 N. Hamilton.

The HPDC invites those that are in town for the ITMA Showtime to take advantage of the member showrooms open, and to end the show with music, food and fun networking at the Beach Blast.

"We're inviting Designers and Buyers to browse over 50 to-the-trade showrooms in the morning and afternoon, and end the afternoon at our Beach Blast. It's a fun way to refresh, revive and relax as they mingle with other designers, buyers and showroom managers," said Event Chair Shannon Hamed.

Earlier in the day, a luncheon presentation by design professionals Brenda Hutchins and Alan Pennix will take place at French Heritage, followed by a dessert party at Antiques by Zaar. Click here for details.

1968 Vespa Scooter Turned Into Functional Work Station

The donor for my furniture project was a 1968 Vespa sprint that was beyond restoration, making it the perfect candidate. I feel that this was a more honorable fate than the scrap metal yard. I have tried to retain the traditional characteristics of the classic icon by converting the back half into a functional work station, complete with adjustable laptop stand. My aim was to deliver the feeling of riding a Vespa without the helmet hair. Anyone want to take it for a spin?”
