Design Quest, a contemporary furniture specialist with one store here, is holding a design contest that has drawn 185 entries from 16 countries.

Design Quest funds the competition, with prizes of $1,000, $500 and $300 to be awarded at a reception on Thursday. Some of the designers will be on hand, and several dozen entries are expected to be on display.

This marks the third year that Design Quest has held the competition. Judges include representatives from office furniture producers Steelcase, Haworth and Herman Miller in addition to Design Quest officials.
